IV Miller is a metalized cap provider; an industry where quality is so important and problems need to be detected as quick as possible. Because of this, we decided to invest time into creating an automatic defective cap system. This system would be set by providing a range for the desired color. This could be configured manually or could be "learned" by providing the system a sample of quality caps. Once the color range was set, the color sensor would continuously read the caps colors and push data to our SQL database. If any caps had a color outside of our desired range, an alarm would sound to notify there was an issue. This greatly increased our 1P1Q% (our percentage of quality caps). Since the data for each of the caps were stored in a database, we were able to view the current status of our production through our internal website in real time.
